The water-repellent BIONIC FINISH ECO impregnation ensures that hummel KIDS functional products are water-repellent. BIONIC FINISH ECO are free from fluorocarbons and other chemicals including PFCs, formaldehyde and paraffin.

hummelTEX waterproof refers to the technical coating placed right underneath the surface of our outerwear, as a waterproof and breathable shield. hummelTEX waterproof styles are always treated with hummelTEX BIONIC FINISH too - to also ensure full water-resistance on the surface.

Referring to the material softshell crafted from two layers of bonded fleece providing warmth and comfort alongside flexible elastane offering even better room to move. hummelTEX Shell material is always treated with both hummelTEX waterproof and hummelTEX BIONIC to ensure water-resistance alongside high breathability.

Footwear


hummelTEX membrane is a waterproof membrane with taped seams, and 100% PFC- and fluorine free protection placed inside our technical sneakers and boots. Even though the membrane is waterproof, shoes with hummelTEX Membrane is only categorised as water-repellent as water can still get into the shoe from the top. Footwear with hummelTEX Membrane are good for moist and mud as well as dry snowy conditions.

hummelTEX Waterproof is exactly what it says on the label. Water. Proof. Moulded in one piece, there are no gaps, making our rubber and thermo boots completely waterproof. With hummelTEX Waterproof your kids can enjoy stomping around in ponds and taking on all the puddles they want while their little feet stay nice and dry.

HOW TO MAINTAIN THE TEX MEMBRANE

To lengthen the life of the TEX membrane, it’s important that the shoes are water resistant and kept clean. A shoe with a TEX membrane must always be treated before use. We all know that kids are very active, so feel free to continue with the treatment throughout the season – we recommend once a week.

In addition, keep the shoes clean, and don’t let mud or dirt dry on for too long. TEX shoes cannot be washed in the washing machine as this damages the membrane. Instead, use a damp cloth or brush to remove dirt. Don’t put the shoes on a radiator or in an airing cupboard as the pores of the membrane can’t withstand high temperatures. Take the insole out, put kitchen roll or newspaper in the shoe to soak up the moisture, and let them dry at room temperature.
